Here are some of the most frequently asked questions from our clients. 

  • We offer  “in-your-own-home” pet sitting services for the times you can’t be there: vacations, business trips, extended weekend trips, that late night out on the town, you name it! We make 1, 2, 3 or 4 visits to your home each day while you’re away – the number of visits depend upon the animal and their particular needs. Visit our Services page for more information.

  • You bet! Let us provide some much need exercise for your pooch by scheduling on-going weekly dog walks. Visit our Services page for more information. 

  • In additional to our signature pet sitting and dog walking services, we provide regularly scheduled litter box maintenance, cage cleaning services, and yard waste removal services. Visit our Services page for complete information.

  • Yes! We have experience with reptiles, caged pocket pets, horses, and other farm animals! We’re well versed on many types of animals and we’re happy to discuss any special needs you may have. 

  • One of the distinguishing factors in hiring a professional pet sitter is that we’re prepared for handling emergencies of all types. We have obtained certification in Pet CPR and First Aid through PetTech, a leading organization dedicated to the health and well being of dogs and cats. In the event of a sudden illness or injury to your pet, we will immediately begin first aid/CPR if needed, contact you and your veterinarian (or the closest emergency vet if the incident is after normal business hours), and if needed we will transport your pet to the veterinary facility. 

  • Security is of the utmost importance to us. All client keys are stored in a securely locked key safe and client files are kept in a locked cabinet as well. During each visit to your home we observe all doors and windows and are on the lookout for any unusual activity in the neighborhood. We’ll contact the police at any time if needed.

    • We are proud members of Pet Sitters International, the premiere pet sitting organization that supports professional pet sitters around the world and we adhere to their high business and ethical standards.
    • Our business is fully insured and bonded through Business Insurers of the Carolinas.
    • We have gained the status of Certified Professional Pet Sitter through Pet Sitters International. This is a rigorous course of study that covers topics from animal health and nutrition to fair and ethical business practices. 
    • We have gained certification for Pet CPR and First Aid through PetTech.net.
    • We are lifelong pet owners and lovers and are committed to provide the same high level of care for our clients as we would our own beloved pets! 
  • Yes. We understand that unavoidable situations arise that require a cancellation and try to be as fair as possible if this happens. Our service agreement addresses cancellations as follows:

    1. For vacation sittings, we ask that you communicate to us any changes to the agreed-upon schedule at least 24-hours prior to your departure if at all possible. We will accommodate any changes to the schedule if we are able to, however we ask that you understand that we may not be able to accommodate all requested changes due to other commitments.
    2. Although we recognize that many last minute schedule changes are often beyond your control, if changes are requested less than 24-hours before departure that result in decreased visits, you agree to pay for the original service visits according to the booked schedule. This recognizes that Squeaky Toy has allocated specific times in their schedule for you and we would not have time to secure other business – which would result in decreased income for us. Some exceptions to this policy may be allowed, and are at the discretion of Squeaky Toy management.
    3. No refunds or credit visits will be issued for last minute delayed departure or early return schedule changes.

  • At this time we accept checks or cash. 

  • We proudly serve the eastern Jackson County, Missouri areas, including most portions of Lee’s Summit, Blue Springs, Grain Valley, Oak Grove and Lone Jack. 

  • We’ll first need to set up a “meet & greet” so we can meet you and your pet. This complimentary meeting is usually around 30 minutes and is a “get acquainted” time for your pet and us. You’ll be able to provide more detailed information and instructions to us on what services are required, and we’ll have some paperwork to fill out (service agreement, client and pet information, veterinary information, etc.). You’ll also need to provide a working key to your home that we will keep on file in our secured lock box.

    Prior to each pet sitting service Squeaky Toy will email you a service confirmation that details visit dates and estimated times as well as fees. We ask that you review this service confirmation and immediately let us know if any changes are needed.

    For vacation pet sitting services we ask that you leave payment on a counter or table for the entire service. For regularly scheduled services such as dog walks, litter box maintenance, cage cleaning or yard waste removal we will bill you monthly in advance via email and ask that full payment be left for us to collect on our first visit of the month.
